How to Cook the Perfect Baked Fish and Chips

Deep fried may not be for everyone, but what if we tell you there is a great healthy and easier alternative to your favorite fish and chips.

Baked Fish and Chips

Cod is awesome but other fishes that work great are other substantial, flakey white fishes like haddock, pike and pollock. And since you have already heated up some oil, throw in a batch of fries to complete the meal. To make them closer to the authentic British style chip, just cut them a little bit thicker and shorter. For the Fish
2 lbs white fish
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
1 cup panko bread crumbs
1 cup flour
Salt and Pepper
For the Chips
1 lbs potatoes
2 tbsp Olive oil
2 tsp Rosemary
salt and pepper

Instructions

  • preheat your oven to 500
  • Put up three shallow dishes and fill one with the beaten egg and milk, one with the flour, and another with the panko breadcrumbs. Season each dish with salt and pepper
  • Prepare the fish by cutting into half a loin each, season with salt and pepper
  • Bread the fish first with flour, then the egg mixture, and lastly the panko. And set aside once done.
  • Slice up potatoes to your choice of shape, mix in a bowl the potatoes, oil, rosemary, and season with salt and pepper
  • In a baking pan, place the breaded fish on a wire rack on a baking dish, and spread the potatoes evenly on another dish
  • Bake both the fish and potatoes for 10-15 minutes, checking the fish every 5 minutes.
  • Serve with Tartar sauce or on its own.
